Sustainability

March 18-June 27, 2009
Sustainability:
1. An aesthetic exploration of sustainability.
2. The potential of art and new modes of art practice to emphasize the link between environmental concerns and social relationships.
Be part of the solution.

You've probably seen a couple posters around for this show, but Holland, the gallery coordinator of the Hillel Gallery asked if I could help spread the word and thus embody the idea of sustainability and save some trees. Check out the Hillel website for more details and to get some ideas and find some fantastic links on sustainability and sustainable art. It'd be great if we could help put some posters together or figure out some other ideas (information design perhaps?). 2d and 3d work are welcome, so if you even have some old landscape paintings or drawings, feel free to enter those and fill out the application. There are jury cash prizes and the reception itself will really just be one big party and celebration of sustainability.

The deadline is next week, March 2. This might be a great exercise for anyone who's bored, especially Jane, if you want to do a brief foray into this kind of social/environmental issue. The show is open to all students in the Boston area, so feel free to forward the link.

And as a sidenote, please check out Holland's band, Fly Upright Kite. Their music is yummy, and so is the band name.
